Ever wondered what it would be like working as a 'background artiste' (or extra if you prefer) on a seriously big film? I got the chance to experience it for myself when I was cast as Magisterial Police in 'The Golden Compass'. My agents called asking about availability and I soon found myself on a bus commuting from London to Oxford. The picture shows us working on the scene near the beginning of the film. Shot or rather reshot in July 2007, bad weather (mostly rain) constantly held up shooting to the point where it had to stop altogether. Needless to say that didn't sit well with the producers who I suspect were there to ensure everything ran smoothly, acts of God accepted of course, and to keep an eye on the overtime.Friday, 6 March 2009
